Just received a call. Mum saying oh and BTW your father tried to sever his thumb the other day! Excuse me. How in the….? Never mind I don’t want to know. She told me anyway.
Apparently in his greed for firewood, he was cutting the pieces to length, using the band saw. Not being quick enough he cut the top of his thumb off. From halfway through the nail. Did not damage the bone. Silly old…so n so. Took himself to the local Hospital and as they don’t have the capacity to deal with something like that they popped him in an ambulance and sent him to town.
The major hospital was able to stop the bleeding and pop some stitches in. Now he’s complaining the bandage is too loose! Aah tighten it up Dad! District nursing will be around, will have to wait and see what feedback comes from there. How do you make an old man listen? You don’t! You bide your time and watch the consequences of people not listening to what you’ve pointed out for the past two years or more.
I told mum I give up! No one is listening, so just let him kill himself slowly.
