Heres what some of our writers say about the site.
I think its a good idea to let everyone know what the mission of the site is and that our members are only interesting in helping each other to better their writing and to make new friends with like interests.

I like this mission statement. When read, savoured and read another day, it makes a lot of sense. It is concise and not tied up in ambiguity. The greatest joy to me in coming to funwriters right at the beginning was the friendliness and caring that is so much a part of the group. I’m very glad it was my first foray into a writing group and I’m happy to be here.I don’t remember reading the statement at the old site because I came in under links clicked on email notifications when I first joined, then had the index bookmarked, but I have adhered to that mission anyway – so I probably did read it.I could probably just copy and paste Cathleen’s comment. The only thing different would be my guilt in not writing enough. I know commenting builds skills and knowledge for the commentor.Kerrie

I think it is a good statement. When I first joined the ‘family’ I had absolutely no confidence in my writing and thanks to everyone here I have more confidence now although I haven’t posted a lot lately because I was travelling around and now I am doing an art course as well. My writing has suffered a bit. But my story is back on track and I also have some short stories on the go. I’m also painting among other things.
Busy busy busy…………….. that’s me.

Now I guess you are wondering why this is here! I’ve placed this page in my blog to assist with further enhancing not only the site, but the writers. Below you will find some examples of some of the writers works. Please if you are interested follow the links and read the rest of the tale.

PS: I’m Nightduty on the site. I’ve been with the group since MSN forums, so it makes me one of the oldies. If you join and travel to the family pages you will see that the permissions were granted and by whom.

“Well Doormat, We’d best have our Christmas breakfast before our guests arrive.’Doormat who had been sitting on my lap purring as I patted her turned her head away. “I’m not talking to you. You had that horrid Jacinta here yesterday and where did they get that super charged Sammy, he spent all day crawling after my tail.”I laughed and put her down; she glared at me and swished her tail. Then her eyes swung to the door she stood alert.I listened, what had she heard: all I could hear was the tropical rain flooding down. Then I saw the figure through the window. Hell what were the neighbours think?

Geoffrey’s Pact

Geoffrey was sweating blood. He had been tricked.
*********
A month earlier, the struggling inventor was cursing, and kicking an overflowing wastebasket across the room of his small workshop.

“Ninety six patents, and none of them worth a story even in the local paper!” He kicked his workdesk as hard as he could, winced, and scowled.

With one huge sweep of his hand, he emptied the top of his desk of paper, books, and pencils. Written by: EverJack

This one carries a Adults only tag. So viewer discretion is suggested.

Blossom Part 1.

“You got a cigarette?”
“Yes”
“Well! Can I have one?
“Ask him!”
“He does’nt bloody smoke!”
“You always have my cigarettes!”
“That’s coz you’ve always bloody got some. Besides I like the thought of bullying you at least once a day!”

Penn held out his hand, clicking his fingers impatiently, Geordie boy, muttering quietly, reluctantly extricated a packet of cigarettes from his pocket.

“Stop muttering bollocks all day long puff, hand one over.” Penn gently slapped his fore-hand across Geordie Boy’s shoulder.

Tony looked beyond them toward his colleagues; busily they ran daily inspections on their patrol cars. He ignored the well practiced routine between Geordie boy and Penn and watched the mounted branch officers removing mud from the hooves of several of their horses, as they chatted amongst themselves.

For the six years he had been posted to Brixton police station the routine had remained un-altered: during quiet moments officers might check their patrol cars for faults, or like today, during a scheduled meal break they might linger on steps to the rear of the police yard. Unobserved by the public they might relax until called out… Written by: Tony

More will be added as permissions are granted. I have to say the above tales are all brilliant and do throughly encourage you to further reading. We are all learning from each other and positive and critical thinking, we further our skills.

Step out of your comfort zone and read a different genre, experience a new author and make their day with a constructive comment.
